Trying to Achieve Your Resolution? It's All In the Mindset

As we know it’s finally 2021, and quarantine definitely has not been the best for mental health. With the crazy year that just passed, having successfully gotten through 2020. With a new year means New Year’s Resolutions. However, New Year's Resolutions are oftentimes hard to keep up with. Keeping a steady routine and trying new things can help boost our moods and give us something to look forward to as we enter the new year.

To help get ready for your resolutions, you can make a list to help organize your thoughts. Using colors and making your list look appealing can help keep you motivated to complete your resolutions. You can also make a vision board. With a vision board you can put inspirational quotes to help keep you motivated. You can put pictures of places you want to travel to, inspiration if you’re redecorating, pictures of friends and family, etc.

A common resolution people often choose is working out. Having a workout buddy can make working out much more enjoyable. A workout buddy can also be beneficial because you can keep each other motivated. Working out is beneficial to your mental, physical, and emotional health. Working out increases endorphins and makes you feel happier. Additionally, you can clean up your diet. To start you can try planning out what you’re going to eat each day of the week. You can also make a grocery list when you go to the supermarket so you only buy what you need. Working out and losing weight can be hard during quarantine when binging Netflix and chips sounds like a much better option. But the results from working out and the satisfaction you get once you reach your goal are immeasurable.

If you want to improve in school, you can practice being more organized. You can write everything down and make lists. This is a great way to stay organized and can help with time management. You can also set aside specific times to study. You can avoid distractions while you study by putting your phone in another room or turn the volume off and put it on the opposite side of the room.

You can also sacrifice some of your free time to study more. For example, instead of watching one hour of tv, you can study for 30 minutes and watch tv for 30 minutes. Due to Covid-19, many students are doing school online. Sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours is no easy task. It can be hard to stay focused. By separating yourself from your phone it can help you pay more attention in class and boost your academic success.

Positivity is a great resolution that many people try to work on. Positivity is a great virtue to acquire because it not only benefits you, but also the people around you. To be more positive you can write positive quotes or words on sticky notes. To boost your self-confidence and self-love, you can also write down the things that you love about yourself and all the things that you are thankful for. Put the sticky notes around your room or bathroom. You want to put them somewhere where you can see them everyday. When you look at them everyday you start to believe them and feel more positive. It is so important to have self-love and self-confidence because it radiates positivity and makes your life so much happier.

Good luck with your New Year’s Resolutions and make 2021 your year!
